Fatal Lake Natoma drowning death of Chris Cary Jr. – Obituary

Authorities have confirmed the recovery of a man’s body from Lake Natoma in Folsom, following a search that began after his personal belongings were found along the American River Bike Trail. The victim was 38-year-old Chris Cary Jr. of Roseville.

California State Parks reported that the body was located in the water around 11:20 a.m. on Monday and taken by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office for identification and to determine the cause of death. Cary’s bike and phone were discovered Sunday near Black Miners Bar, prompting a coordinated search by State Parks rangers, the Folsom Police Department, the Sheriff’s dive team, and local firefighters.

Family members had reported Cary missing after he had been riding in the area late Friday night. On Monday, his family publicly identified him, expressing their grief over the loss. The coroner’s office is expected to release formal identification and additional details in the coming days.
