Fatal Richmond house fire death of Roger Wayne Pritchard – Obituary

Roger Wayne Pritchard, 73, died Tuesday morning in a house fire on Schutte Avenue in Richmond, Virginia.

Richmond Fire and EMS reported that a call came in around 3:42 a.m. about a fire in the 5000 block of Schutte Avenue. Firefighters arrived within five minutes to find flames engulfing the front of the home. Pritchard was discovered inside and pulled from the residence, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to family, Pritchard had lived alone in the home for about 20 years. One firefighter sustained a minor injury during the response but is expected to recover. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
