Doctor Faiqa Aftab Qureshi, 75, lost her life Friday morning following a deadly single-vehicle crash in Dinwiddie County, Virginia. The incident occurred along northbound Interstate 85 and is currently under investigation by state authorities.

Virginia State Police said troopers were dispatched at about 9 a.m. on Friday, December 26, to a location approximately 2.5 miles north of McKenney Highway after receiving reports of a serious crash.

Investigators determined that a 2024 Lexus RX 350, driven by a female, traveled off the left side of the interstate for reasons not yet released. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle caught fire.

Emergency responders arrived on scene and pronounced Doctor Qureshi dead at the location of the crash. No other vehicles were reported to be involved.

Authorities have not released additional details as the investigation continues to determine what led to the vehicle leaving the highway.

Doctor Qureshi was identified as a physician who worked at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters. Her death has prompted an outpouring of sorrow as officials continue examining the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
