Fatal Jacksonville, Fla. car crash death of Derek A. George – Obituary
A 16-year-old boy, Derek A. George, tragically lost his life in a car accident Thursday night on R.G. Skinner Parkway, near the intersection of Interstate 295 and Baymeadows Road. The incident occurred at 8 p.m., and Derek was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others involved in the crash were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Derek’s death has been met with an outpouring of grief on social media. His friend, Jacob Monoson, shared a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, posting a photo of Derek in a blue dress shirt and tie. “R.I.P Derek George,” Monoson wrote. “I’m so sad to see you go like this. We had great times and many memories growing up together, you were a great guy and friend who always kept a smile on your face no matter what. Life was just too short for you and today was your last breath. You will be truly missed.”
According to police, Derek was driving a Nissan Maxima northbound in the 9100 block of Skinner Parkway when he lost control, veering off the road and crashing into a tree. The incident is still under investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide division.
