A 58-year-old man from Midland, Robert Harold Krauter Jr., tragically lost his life in a crash on January 1. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. at the intersection of State Highway 349 and West County Road 330. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Krauter was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 2007 Kenworth T8, towing a trailer, was heading south on SH 349, with Krauter’s 2022 Ford F-150 following behind. As the Kenworth slowed to make a left turn into a private driveway, Krauter failed to reduce speed and collided with the rear of the trailer. The Ford caught fire after the impact. The crash is still under investigation, and no further details have been released.
