Terrie Nguyen, 72, was found dead in her O’Fallon home on December 27 after what authorities are describing as a violent attack. Officers were called for a welfare check by family members who had been unable to reach her and discovered her lifeless inside the residence.

According to investigators, Nguyen was struck in the face, and her assailant wrapped plastic over her nose and mouth. Authorities quickly identified her 38-year-old son, David Nguyen, as a suspect. He was later located by the Missouri State Highway Patrol but fled during a traffic stop, eventually crashing his vehicle and being taken into custody.

Charging documents indicate that David Nguyen attempted to conceal the crime by filling the home with gas from unlit burners and placing a lit candle inside, creating a dangerous risk of explosion. The official cause of Terrie Nguyen’s death has not yet been determined, and the investigation is ongoing. David Nguyen faces charges of murder and concealment of a homicidal death.
