LaKeisha Malone, 36, was fatally attacked in her Evanston home in Cincinnati on Tuesday, leaving authorities to classify the case as a homicide.

Police responded just before 3 p.m. to a residence on the 1800 block of Hewitt Avenue, where they found Malone injured. Investigators say Andre Michael Redmond, 40, allegedly caused her death by striking her with a homemade wooden club, inflicting blunt force trauma. Court records indicate Redmond has been charged with murder in connection with Malone’s death.

Prosecutors reported that Malone may have been asleep when the attack occurred, and one detective described the scene as among the most severe he has encountered. Children were reportedly present in the home during the assault, heightening the gravity of the situation.

Redmond remains in Hamilton County Jail on a $2 million bond while awaiting further court proceedings related to the murder charges.
