Fatal Austin crash death of Ariana Williams – Obituary

Ariana Williams, 35, lost her life after being struck by a vehicle on Slaughter Lane near Francia Trail on Dec. 24, authorities reported.

Austin police say the collision occurred around 8:14 p.m., and the driver involved remained at the scene, was not impaired, and is cooperating with the investigation. Family members believe the crash may have involved excessive speed, noting the severity of Williams’ injuries. They said she appeared to be crossing the street when the incident happened.

Williams’ mother, Toni Savage, described her daughter as a kind and loved person, despite personal struggles, and her stepfather, Derrick Savage, expressed concern over traffic speeds on the road. The family is seeking a thorough review of nearby surveillance footage to understand the exact circumstances of the crash. They also want clarity about the location of Williams’ personal belongings, which were not immediately returned.

Austin police confirmed the investigation is ongoing, including speed analysis and a crash reconstruction. Standard procedures, including testing the surviving driver for intoxication, have been followed. Police encourage anyone with information to contact the Vehicular Homicide Unit or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program.

This was Austin’s 93rd fatal crash of 2025.
