Robert Lewis Jeter, 63, died on New Year’s Eve from injuries connected to a vehicle crash that occurred several days earlier in Greenville County, according to the county coroner’s office.

Authorities with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the incident happened on December 26 along Old Piedmont Highway. Investigators stated that Jeter was outside a tow truck, adjusting chains in preparation to remove a vehicle from a ditch, when he was struck by another vehicle.
