Fatal Bibb County garbage truck accident death of Chad Williams – Obituary

Chad Williams, 45, was killed Saturday morning after being struck by a Ryland Environmental garbage truck in Bibb County, authorities reported.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the intersection of Ridge and Hartley avenues shortly before 10:15 a.m., where the incident occurred. According to officials, the driver of a 2022 Mack Terrapro was reversing the vehicle when Williams, who was behind the truck, was hit.

Williams was transported to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead. The Bibb County Coroner’s Office confirmed he was employed by Ryland Environmental and that the truck involved belonged to the company. His family has been notified.

Authorities are investigating the accident, and no charges have been filed at this time. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has requested that anyone with information about the incident contact them at 478-751-7500.
