UNIONDALE, NY — Cesar Manzo, a 71-year-old resident of Uniondale, was arrested in Nassau County in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a pedestrian Saturday afternoon.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, Manzo was taken into custody after investigators determined he was the driver of a 2009 Jeep Wrangler involved in a crash at approximately 3:19 p.m. The incident occurred as 75-year-old Cross Kim Young was attempting to cross Maple Avenue at the intersection of Hempstead Boulevard.

Authorities said Young suffered severe trauma after being struck and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police reported that the driver fled the scene following the collision.
