Sanchez, 47, died following a multi-vehicle collision in the Sheffield neighborhood on Wednesday evening, authorities confirmed. The crash occurred during a police pursuit of a gray Ford F-250 involved in multiple traffic violations.

According to police, the fleeing truck traveled west on 9th Street toward Benton Boulevard, ran a red light, and struck a blue pickup before colliding with Sanchez’s vehicle. Sanchez was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the following morning. Two passengers in his car were also hospitalized with critical injuries.

After hitting Sanchez’s vehicle, the suspect reportedly continued to evade police, striking a recreational vehicle on private property before abandoning the truck and fleeing on foot. The pickup had been reported stolen. Authorities say the driver remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
