Binh Hoang dies in fatal Birdland pedestrian crash

Fatal Birdland pedestrian crash death of Binh Hoang – Obituary

Binh Hoang, a 76-year-old San Diego resident, was struck by a vehicle while crossing Meadowlark Drive in the Birdland neighborhood, east of Kearny Mesa, on December 29, 2025. He was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital but died on Sunday, just two days after celebrating his birthday, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office.

Michael Figueroa, 40, was also fatally struck by a vehicle in a separate incident. Figueroa was sitting on a center median at College and Oceanside boulevards in Oceanside around 7:15 p.m. on Friday when he was hit by an eastbound Ford Mustang. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police reported that intoxication was not considered a factor in Figueroa’s death. Both incidents remain under review by local authorities.
