Jean Dominique Foureau, 34, a Fort Lauderdale emergency-room doctor, died early Saturday morning in Coconut Creek, Florida, after fatally shooting a 38-year-old woman inside her home and then taking his own life, police reported. Authorities responded to a domestic disturbance around 4 a.m. on the 4800 block of Acadian Trail, where both bodies were discovered.

Foureau and the woman had previously been in a relationship and shared a child, though it is unclear if the child was present during the incident. Broward Health Medical Center confirmed Foureau’s employment as a physician.

Coconut Creek police stated that the case remains under investigation but indicated there are no further suspects involved.
