Fatal Lincoln County car crash death of Rachel Nelson – Obituary

Rachel Nelson, 47, of Midkiff, West Virginia, was killed in a vehicle collision with a West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) truck early Monday in Lincoln County. The accident occurred on Dairy Road near Salt Rock in West Hamlin, just before noon, according to Lincoln County 911.

State police reports indicate that Nelson’s vehicle crossed the center line while traveling northbound and collided with an on-duty WVDOH mechanics truck. Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the WVDOH truck declined medical attention.

The crash prompted a temporary closure of the road, with traffic diverted around Route 10 until it was reopened. The Lincoln County office of the West Virginia State Police continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
