Fatal Houston shooting death of Luis Alberto Quinteros – Obituary
New information has been released about the fatal shooting that claimed the life of Luis Alberto Quinteros outside a restaurant in Houston’s East End. Authorities say the suspect involved had not been arrested as of roughly a day after the incident.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences confirmed that Quinteros, 57, was the victim in the deadly encounter. He was employed as a security guard and was on duty at the time of the shooting.
Houston police reported that the incident occurred at approximately 7:20 p.m. Wednesday outside Original Connie’s Seafood, located in the 300 block of South 69th Street. Investigators believe the suspect came up behind Quinteros, pressed a firearm against his back, and attempted to take his weapon.
A struggle reportedly followed, during which the suspect discharged the gun, hitting Quinteros. Surveillance footage reviewed by the restaurant’s owner shows a man crossing Wayside Drive and entering the parking lot shortly before the shooting. The owner said Quinteros had recently arrived for his shift and stepped outside moments before the confrontation.
Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Quinteros to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police described the suspect as a white or Hispanic male who fled the scene on foot. Detectives with the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division continue to investigate and are analyzing surveillance video as the search for the suspect continues.
