Fatal Essex plane crash death of Peter Beeson – Obituary
Peter Beeson, a 66-year-old resident of Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, was killed when a small private plane he was flying crashed into Hanningfield Reservoir. Essex Police reported that Beeson was believed to be the only person on board the Beagle B121 Pup aircraft.
The plane had departed North Weald Airfield shortly before noon on December 28, 2025, and went down near the reservoir, located between Chelmsford and Billericay, around 2 p.m. Authorities said the investigation into the incident is ongoing, with no evidence of suspicious circumstances identified so far.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on Wednesday. Detective Inspector Lydia George extended condolences to Beeson’s family and friends, noting the extensive search efforts conducted alongside emergency services, the Air Accidents Investigation Branch, and other specialists. Divers from the Metropolitan Police recovered Beeson’s body.
Police confirmed that work continues on preparing a file for the coroner.
