Fatal Greenville County car crash death of Anthony Eugene Smith – Obituary

Anthony Eugene Smith, 42, was killed Sunday afternoon after a serious traffic collision in Greenville County, South Carolina. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 2 p.m. on Sulphur Springs Road near the Swamp Rabbit Trail, according to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.

Investigators said Smith was driving a Nissan pickup truck and attempted to pass an SUV when his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a GMC pickup truck head-on. The force of the collision then caused the Nissan to collide with the SUV it had been passing.

Smith suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the GMC pickup was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. No additional information has been released about that person’s condition.

The incident remains under investigation by authorities as they work to determine all factors that led to the crash.
