Amber McGee, a 37-year-old woman, lost her life Friday evening after being hit by a Norfolk Southern train in south Charlotte. Police with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were dispatched to the scene in the 5700 block of Old Pineville Road at approximately 7:44 p.m. following reports of a collision involving a train and a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers located Amber McGee lying unresponsive near the tracks. Emergency responders from MEDIC confirmed she had died at the scene. Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal incident. No additional details have been released as officials continue their review.
