Fatal Hilo, Hawaii pedestrian crash death of Caesare Brown – Obituary

Caesare Brown, 43, passed away following a traffic accident in Hilo, Hawaii, on August 2, 2025.

Brown was struck while crossing Kuawa Street outside a marked crosswalk by a 2013 Toyota Corolla driven by 56-year-old Robester Annes. He was initially taken to Hilo Benioff Medical Center and later airlifted to Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu for advanced care. On September 12, Brown succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. An autopsy has been ordered to confirm the precise cause of death.

Annes, who was unharmed, was initially arrested for negligent injury and operating a vehicle under the influence. After consultation with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, he was released pending ongoing investigation. Following Brown’s death, authorities upgraded the case to negligent homicide, citing alcohol and driver inattention as potential contributing factors.
