Fatal Halfmoon, New York car crash death of Sikander Samuel – Obituary
Sikander Samuel, a 50-year-old Valvoline employee from Schenectady, New York, died Monday from injuries sustained in a vehicle crash at a Halfmoon Valvoline location, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred Saturday morning at approximately 11:52 a.m. at 1682 U.S. Route 9. According to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, two vehicles were waiting in line to enter the service garage when the second vehicle accelerated unexpectedly, pinning Samuel between it and the car in front. The collision caused a chain reaction, sending the first car into the garage and forcing a third parked vehicle through the front glass doors.
Samuel was transported to Albany Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The 63-year-old driver of the vehicle is cooperating with investigators.
The Sheriff’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation, while Valvoline and the local franchise expressed condolences, temporarily closing the location to honor Samuel and support his family and coworkers.
