Fatal Madras, Oregon pedestrian crash death of Jared Elijah Cooper – Obituary

Jared Elijah Cooper, 38, of Madras, Oregon, was killed Saturday after being struck by an SUV on Highway 97, just south of the city. The collision occurred around 11:43 a.m. near SW Falcon Lane.

Oregon State Police reported that a 63-year-old driver from Sandy, Utah, was merging a Ford Explorer from the shoulder into the northbound lanes when it struck Cooper. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver was unharmed.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash and have not indicated whether the driver will face citations.
