Fatal Ashburn Claiborne Parkway crash death of Calina Yu – Obituary

Calina Yu, a 20-year-old woman from Ashburn, tragically lost her life after being struck by a Loudoun County Public Schools maintenance vehicle on the morning of January 10th. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 9:13 a.m. at the intersection of Claiborne Parkway and Portsmouth Boulevard. Authorities confirmed that Yu was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the maintenance vehicle, an employee of Loudoun County Public Schools, remained at the scene and cooperated with detectives. The incident has prompted an ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.

In light of this tragedy, Stone Bridge High School Principal Timothy J. Flynn issued a statement to parents, announcing the cancellation of all after-school activities on Tuesday. He expressed deep sadness over the loss of the student, who was reported to have attended the school. The school has made mental health support available to students and staff affected by the loss.
