Fatal South of the Fraser shootings deaths of Navpreet Dhaliwal, Naseem Mohammed, and Baljinder Garcha – Obituary
Three men were killed in separate violent incidents in the South of the Fraser area over the past week. Navpreet Dhaliwal, 28, was shot to death on January 9 in his Abbotsford home on the 3200-block of Siskin Drive. Dhaliwal had previously been identified by Abbotsford Police as a “significant public safety risk” due to alleged ties to gang activity.
On January 12, Naseem Mohammed, 27, was discovered dead by Surrey firefighters responding to an early-morning blaze at a home in the 12700-block of 56 Avenue in Surrey’s Panorama Ridge neighborhood. Mohammed was also known to authorities and believed to have associations with B.C.’s ongoing gang conflict.
The following day, January 13, Surrey Police responded to a man found on the roadside in the 3500-block of 176 Street. Emergency responders confirmed the man had died from apparent gunshot wounds. He was later identified as 46-year-old Baljinder “Binder” Singh Garcha of Surrey. Police also investigated a vehicle fire that occurred shortly after 11 a.m. on the 18900 block of 40 Avenue, which may be linked to the incident.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has stated that it is too early to determine any connection between these deaths and that investigators do not currently believe Garcha’s death is linked to gang activity. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigations.
