Fatal Bannock County crash death of Bradley Bassett – Obituary

Bradley Bassett, 51, of Pocatello, Idaho, was killed Tuesday when his car collided with a detached semi-trailer on US Highway 30. Authorities confirmed Bassett’s identity and have notified his family.

The incident occurred on January 13, 2026, when a 2024 Freightliner semi-truck traveling eastbound lost its single trailer, which came to rest across the westbound lane. Bassett, driving a silver Mercury Grand Marquis, struck the trailer, resulting in his death at the scene.

Bannock County Coroner Torey Danner expressed condolences to Bassett’s loved ones, and the Idaho State Police continue to investigate the mechanical failure that caused the trailer to detach.
