Fatal Milwaukee crash death of Elaine C. Corbitt – Obituary

Elaine C. Corbitt, 41, was killed when a speeding vehicle lost control and collided with a tree on Milwaukee’s southwest side on January 13. The crash occurred around 6:50 p.m. on the 9300 block of West Wilbur Avenue, police reported.

 

Authorities said the 60-year-old driver was traveling west on Wilbur Avenue at a dangerously high speed in a residential area. Corbitt, a passenger in the vehicle, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed her identity on January 14.

 

The driver survived with non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, where police said he was also arrested. Charges are under review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.

 

Milwaukee police noted that as of January 13, three people had already died in traffic crashes this year. In comparison, 61 fatalities were recorded in 2025, and 67 in 2024.
