Seferino Hernandez-Perez was identified as the man who died following a shooting in North Austin early Sunday morning. Seferino Hernandez-Perez succumbed to his injuries shortly after being located at a separate site from where the gunfire was first reported.

 

According to the Austin Police Department, officers were dispatched around 5:27 a.m. on January 12 to reports of shots fired in the 1100 block of South Meadows Drive. When officers arrived, they did not find any victims at the scene but recovered evidence, including shell casings.

 

Roughly 40 minutes later, at about 6:08 a.m., police received another 911 call reporting an unconscious man who was not breathing at 9806 Middle Fiskville Road. Authorities later confirmed that the individual found at that address was the same person connected to the earlier shooting.

 

Hernandez-Perez was pronounced dead a short time after officers made contact. Police confirmed his identity later in the investigation.

 

The case marks the Austin Police Department’s fifth homicide investigation of 2026. Detectives believe the shooting occurred on South Meadows Drive, though the victim was discovered several blocks away.
