Fatal Madera U-turn crash death of Lashirah B. Bullard – Obituary

Lashirah B. Bullard, 41, of Compton, was killed early January 8 in a U-turn collision on Road 28½, north of Harper Boulevard east of Madera, California. The California Highway Patrol reported that Bullard made a U-turn directly in front of oncoming traffic around 12:15 a.m., and despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in Bullard’s vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital, while the other driver involved, whose car broadsided Bullard’s and ended up in a ditch, was uninjured. The Madera County Coroner’s Office confirmed her identity, and investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances. Toxicology results have not yet been released, so it remains unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role.

This incident follows a similar fatal U-turn crash earlier in the week on Highway 145, highlighting the dangers of unsafe U-turns. The CHP emphasized caution, including checking for clear visibility, yielding to traffic and pedestrians, and avoiding U-turns on curves or hills.
