Fatal Los Angeles shooting death of Avery Newman – Obituary

Avery Newman, 36, was killed in a shooting outside a restaurant in Manchester Square, Los Angeles, authorities confirmed Thursday. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office identified him as one of the victims in the incident.

The shooting occurred Sunday evening at 6:44 p.m. on Manchester Boulevard near Normandie Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Surveillance and witness accounts indicate that while Newman and others were waiting for food, two individuals on foot approached and opened fire before fleeing west along Manchester Boulevard.

Emergency responders transported four of the victims to local hospitals, where Newman later died. A fifth person was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle and was reported to be in stable condition.
