Teodoro Garcia Orrala, a 62-year-old Akron man, tragically lost his life Tuesday evening after being struck by a Ford Explorer while crossing Brittain Road. The accident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. on January 13, near the entrance to the Fred Nimmer Apartments.

Authorities reported that Orrala was within a crosswalk when he was hit, though it remains unclear whether he had the right of way. Paramedics transported him to Summa Health Akron, where he was later pronounced dead.

The 24-year-old driver of the Ford Explorer remained at the scene and has been cooperative with investigators. Authorities have ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the crash.
