Fatal West Glenwood Springs, Colorado car crash death of Jennifer Parker – Obituary
Jennifer Parker, a 47-year-old resident of Glenwood Springs, lost her life Wednesday evening after being struck by a semi truck along Interstate 70 near the West Glenwood exit, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred around 7:16 p.m. on westbound I-70 near milepost 113, prompting a response from the Colorado State Patrol. Investigators said a semi truck pulling an enclosed utility trailer was traveling west when Parker entered the roadway, crossing the interstate from north to south. She was hit in the right lane and thrown onto the pavement by the impact.
According to state patrol officials, the truck driver stopped briefly after the collision but left the area before law enforcement arrived. The Garfield County Coroner’s Office was notified shortly after and pronounced Parker dead at the scene, citing severe blunt force injuries.
Coroner’s investigators also reported that Parker’s dog was found nearby and had died as well. An autopsy has been scheduled, with the official cause of death under continued investigation.
The crash forced the closure of westbound lanes of I-70 for roughly five hours while authorities examined the scene and cleared the roadway. Traffic was restored shortly after midnight on Thursday.
Colorado State Patrol officials said the semi truck driver has been identified, though the individual’s name has not been released as no charges have been filed. Efforts to locate the driver are ongoing, and the investigation remains active.
