India Norwood Davis, 41, was killed Thursday afternoon after being shot while inside a vehicle in West Macon, authorities confirmed.

Deputies with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded around 4 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 2100 block of Adams Avenue. When they arrived, they found Davis seated in a car suffering from a gunshot wound.

Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but Davis died from her injuries, according to officials. Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones identified the victim and said her family has been notified.

The coroner noted that no firearm was located at the scene and stated that the death is being investigated as a homicide.

Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers as the investigation remains ongoing.
