Fatal Lake Isabella, California deputy-involved shooting death of Fernando Padilla – Obituary
Fernando Padilla, 39, of Bodfish, was shot and killed early Sunday morning, January 11, during a confrontation with Kern County deputies in Lake Isabella. Authorities responded to reports of Padilla firing a handgun near Kilbreth Avenue and Lake Isabella Boulevard, and the situation escalated as he moved toward Highway 178, where the deputy-involved shooting occurred.
Deputies attempted to provide medical aid at the scene, and emergency personnel arrived shortly afterward, but Padilla was pronounced dead on site. According to the Kern County Coroner’s Office, he died east of the Kernville Road off-ramp on Highway 178.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office stated that all uses of deadly force are investigated, and findings are submitted to the Kern County District Attorney for criminal review. Officials are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the sheriff’s office or Kern Secret Witness.
