Fatal McHenry, Illinois pedestrian crash death of Ronald Wills – Obituary

Ronald Wills, 64, of McHenry, was killed while attempting to cross Elm Street in a tragic pedestrian accident, authorities confirmed. McHenry County Coroner Dr. Michael Rein identified Wills following the incident.

The crash occurred just east of Meadow Lane when a red 2008 Ford Focus, traveling eastbound, struck Wills as he walked south across the street. Another eastbound vehicle was involved after stopping to avoid the collision, police said.

Emergency responders, including multiple local police departments from McHenry, Woodstock, Spring Grove, Harvard, Cary, Johnsburg, and Lake in the Hills, attended the scene. Paramedics performed life-saving measures before transporting Wills to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry, where he was pronounced dead. A medical helicopter had been on standby but was canceled.

Authorities stated that alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash, and no citations or charges have been issued as the investigation continues. The McHenry County Regional Crash Assistance Team assisted with the investigation, and an autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday, according to Dr. Rein.
