Fatal Elmore County, Alabama prison fight death of Damon Lamar Calhoun – Obituary
Damon Lamar Calhoun, 35, was killed Thursday during an altercation inside Elmore Correctional Facility in Alabama, authorities confirmed. The fight involved three inmates and a weapon, leaving Calhoun and 34-year-old Londell Ramone Nunn, Jr. fatally injured.
Both men were taken to the prison’s Health Care Unit, where staff attempted to save their lives, but they were pronounced dead by the attending physician. The third inmate involved, 28-year-old Deion Lamar Booth, was unharmed.
Calhoun was serving an 18-year sentence for third-degree burglary from Mobile County, while Nunn was serving a 10-year sentence for first-degree robbery from Morgan County. Booth is serving a 20-year sentence for first-degree assault from Escambia County.
The bodies of Calhoun and Nunn were transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for autopsies. The Alabama Department of Corrections continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deadly incident.
