Fatal Sandy, Utah pedestrian crash death of Joshua Perry – Obituary

Joshua Perry, 40, was killed Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Sandy, authorities reported. The incident occurred near 1000 E. 11000 South as Perry used a marked crosswalk.

Police said Perry was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries. The driver, 28-year-old Zoe Blankenstein, stayed at the scene and was subsequently arrested. She was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of automobile homicide.

Sandy Police Sgt. Michael Olsen confirmed that Blankenstein was allegedly driving under the influence at the time of the crash. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing.
