Fatal Birmingham, Alabama train crash death of Carolyn Elaine Berry – Obituary

Carolyn Elaine Berry, 47, of Birmingham, Alabama, was killed early on January 17, 2026, when the minivan she was riding in was struck by a freight train at the 1000 block of 24th Street Southwest. Another passenger, 36-year-old Aldereka Laqulla Ikes, also died following the collision after being transported to UAB Hospital.

Three juveniles in the vehicle were hospitalized at Children’s of Alabama, though their conditions have not been disclosed. The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the circumstances of the deadly crash.
