Charles Watkins, a 23-year-old man from LaFayette, Georgia, was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Warren County, Ohio, during the early morning hours of Saturday. The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed his identity following the incident.
According to troopers from the Lebanon Post, emergency crews were dispatched to Interstate 71 northbound near mile marker 32 at approximately 4 a.m. after receiving reports of a serious rollover crash. Investigators said Watkins was driving a 2023 Honda CR-V northbound when the vehicle veered off the left side of the highway.
Authorities stated the SUV rolled multiple times, ejecting Watkins from the vehicle. He was thrown into the southbound lanes of I-71, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The patrol noted that Watkins was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The circumstances surrounding the wreck remain under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
