Fatal Skowhegan, Maine homicide death of Nichole Jackson – Obituary
Nichole Jackson, a 46-year-old woman from Skowhegan, Maine, was found dead in her home following a homicide on January 14. Authorities confirmed her identity after responding to a 911 call around midnight reporting a person not breathing at 361 West Front Street.
When officers arrived, they discovered Jackson’s lifeless body at the residence. An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta revealed that Jackson had sustained both blunt force and sharp force trauma.
Police identified Jackson’s boyfriend, 55-year-old Dane Burke of Skowhegan, as the prime suspect in her death. He was believed to be driving a 2018 silver Jeep Compass with Ohio license plates. On January 17, law enforcement located the vehicle in Lowell, Massachusetts. When authorities attempted to stop the vehicle, Burke led them on a high-speed chase.
The pursuit traveled through several areas before ending in Dunbarton, New Hampshire, where the vehicle crashed into a tree on Route 13. Burke allegedly barricaded himself inside the vehicle, prompting a response from New Hampshire SWAT, who took him into custody.
Burke sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital before being arrested. He is facing a murder charge and will remain in New Hampshire until his return to Maine.
The investigation into Jackson’s death is ongoing.
