Fatal Junction City, Kan. shooting death of John Day – Obituary
John Day, a 66-year-old resident of Junction City, Kansas, died Saturday after being found with injuries believed to be caused by gunfire, authorities confirmed.
The Junction City Police Department reported that officers were sent to the 300 block of West 4th Street at approximately 4:15 p.m. following a call about an individual possibly suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers discovered Day at the scene with what appeared to be a gunshot injury.
Emergency responders transported Day to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Police stated that the case is still under active investigation. All individuals who were present at the time of the incident have been identified and questioned by investigators. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
Authorities emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public. Due to the sensitive and active nature of the investigation, additional details are not being released at this time.
Once the investigation concludes, the findings will be forwarded to the Geary County District Attorney’s Office, which will review the case to determine whether criminal charges are warranted.
