Joyce Qi Yile, 21, was killed early Sunday morning following a serious traffic collision on Chicago’s South Side. Joyce Qi Yile was among several occupants in a vehicle that crashed along South DuSable Lake Shore Drive near Soldier Field.

According to Chicago police, the single-vehicle incident occurred around 2:21 a.m. in the 2500 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive. Investigators said the male driver lost control of the vehicle, which struck a pole and then slammed into the median.

Authorities reported that Joyce Qi Yile, a passenger in the car, suffered severe traumatic injuries. She was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver and three other adult passengers were also taken to the same hospital and were reported to be in good condition. Detectives with the Chicago Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Unit continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
