Fatal Bakersfield, California car crash death of Joseph Adam Cruz Jr. – Obituary

Joseph Adam Cruz Jr., 19, of Bakersfield, was killed after being struck by a vehicle on South H Street early on January 11, authorities reported. The incident occurred around 1:51 a.m. in the 4200 block of South H Street.

Officers arriving at the scene found Cruz Jr. unresponsive in the roadway. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, Cruz Jr. was outside a crosswalk in the northbound lanes when the vehicle struck him.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Preliminary findings indicate that neither excessive speed nor impairment contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
