Fatal Blackman Township drug overdose deaths of JaJuan Worthy and Ashley Connin – Obituary
JaJuan Worthy, 36, of Jackson, and Ashley Connin, 34, of Jonesville, were found dead Sunday, Jan. 18, at the Travelodge on Rosehill Avenue in Blackman Township, in what authorities believe were drug overdoses.
The Blackman-Leoni Township public safety department said officers discovered the victims after responding to a report of a possible overdose in a hotel room off I-94 northeast of Jackson. A third individual in the room also overdosed and was taken to Henry Ford Jackson Hospital; her condition has not been disclosed.
Investigators determined that the three had obtained narcotics from Angela Chapman, 41, of Jackson. With assistance from the Jackson County Narcotics Enforcement Team, authorities arrested Chapman later that evening.
Chapman was arraigned on Jan. 20 before Jackson County Magistrate Jake Dickerson. She faces two counts of delivering a controlled substance causing death and two additional counts related to delivering or manufacturing less than 50 grams of a controlled substance. The charges carrying death consequences carry a maximum sentence of life in prison. Chapman was granted a $50,000 bond.
