A 40-year-old man with a long criminal history from Montreal was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon in Kahnawake, Quebec. Authorities identified the victim as Kyle (K-Irish) Grabowski, and the incident occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. in a parking lot behind Robbie’s Smokehouse & Burger Bar on Route 138.

The Kahnawake Peacekeepers, with support from the Sûreté du Québec, are leading the investigation, which remains ongoing. Officials emphasized that there is no active threat to the public at this time.

Grabowski had an extensive criminal record, including a 10-year prison sentence in 2012 for multiple violent crimes, among them a 2009 home invasion in St-Adolphe-d’Howard. More recently, in September 2025, he served a 179-day sentence after pleading guilty to drug possession. In 2023, he was also linked to an attempted murder investigation and alleged drug-related offenses, though charges were ultimately dropped.

Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances of Grabowski’s death, while the Kahnawake community has been reassured that there is no ongoing danger.
