Fatal Roanoke shooting death of Erick Telsaint – Obituary

A deadly shooting beneath the Tazewell Bridge in Roanoke has resulted in criminal charges, according to city police.

Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Tazewell Avenue SE at about 9 p.m. on January 20 after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found Erick Telsaint, 24, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities noted that Telsaint did not have a permanent address.

Investigators quickly identified and detained a suspect. Police said 49-year-old Samuel Peitit Davis has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the incident.

Preliminary findings indicate that Telsaint was walking under the bridge when he and Davis became involved in a verbal dispute. The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation, which ultimately led to the shooting.

The case remains under active investigation. Anyone who may have information related to the incident is encouraged to contact the Roanoke Police Department at 540-344-8500.
