Lydia Barnes, 28, a City Hall employee in Collinsville, Texas, was killed Monday morning in a devastating traffic collision in Cooke County. Texas Department of Public Safety officials said Barnes was driving along FM 902 when the crash occurred.

According to state troopers, another vehicle crossed into Barnes’ lane for reasons still under investigation, resulting in a head-on collision. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where Barnes was pronounced dead.

Authorities reported that a second individual involved in the crash sustained injuries and was transported for medical care. The incident remains under investigation as officials work to determine what caused the other driver to veer into oncoming traffic.
