Fatal Huntington County, Indiana shooting deaths of Melanie R. Meyers and Kenneth L. Meyers – Obituary

Melanie R. Meyers, 51, and Kenneth L. Meyers, 54, both of Huntington, Indiana, were found dead Tuesday night in an incident authorities are investigating as an apparent homicide-suicide. The couple was discovered at a property along West Maple Grove Road in Dallas Township.

Indiana State Police and the Huntington County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene shortly before 10 p.m. after relatives reported they had been unable to contact the couple for an extended period. Officials noted that the couple’s vehicle was parked on the property, raising concern.

Deputies from the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department located both individuals deceased on a lower level of the building, which was not their primary residence. Investigators determined that the couple had likely been at the location for some time and that both sustained gunshot wounds.

The coroner later ruled Melanie Meyers’ death a homicide and Kenneth Meyers’ death a suicide. Autopsies were performed Wednesday morning at a forensic facility in Fort Wayne.

Authorities say the investigation remains active as they work to establish the events leading up to the deaths. Law enforcement officials continue to ask anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
