Corey Lamont Brown, 48, was shot and killed Wednesday morning on West Rogers Street in Ahoskie, according to local police.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 200 block of West Rogers Street and found Brown suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said the shooting stemmed from an apparent dispute between Brown and another man.

Police identified the suspect as 65-year-old Leandrew Vinson, who remained at the scene and was taken into custody without incident. Vinson has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond at the Hertford County Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in Hertford County District Court on Friday as the investigation continues.
