Fatal Delaware County, Indiana car fire death of Michael D. Greer – Obituary
Michael D. Greer, 58, of Shelbyville, has been identified as the homicide victim whose body was discovered inside a burning vehicle in rural Delaware County, Indiana. Authorities confirmed his identity on Wednesday after DNA testing verified that the remains found belonged to Greer.
According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, Greer’s body was located during the early morning hours of December 14 inside a car that was engulfed in flames along County Road 500 South, west of Indiana 3. The discovery launched a homicide investigation that has since led to multiple arrests.
Chief Deputy Jeff Stanley stated that five individuals from Indianapolis have been taken into custody and charged in connection with Greer’s death. Those charged include Ameraiss Aponte, 23; Tallis Varantonio McCoy, 43; Randal Bruce Moon Jr., 40; Amy L. Singhas, 43; and Megan Nicole Sloan, 31.
Investigators noted that the most recent arrest occurred on January 15, when McCoy was apprehended with assistance from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s SWAT and Violent Crimes Unit.
Earlier this month, an 85-year-old Shelbyville man, Sylvester Bobby Euell, told authorities that Greer was his son, a claim that was later confirmed through forensic testing. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Greer’s death remains ongoing as the case proceeds through the legal system.
