Fatal Sherman Oaks car crash death of Andriy Korshunov – Obituary

Andriy Korshunov, 80, was killed late Tuesday night in a hit-and-run crash in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood of Los Angeles that also claimed the life of his dog.

Police said Korshunov and his dog were walking in a bike lane along Woodman Avenue around 11:30 p.m. when a Maserati Quattroporte veered off the roadway and struck them. The dog died at the scene, and Korshunov was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators believe the driver fled immediately after the crash. The Maserati involved was later found abandoned several blocks away at the intersection of Mammoth Avenue and Milbank Street, without license plates. The vehicle was towed as evidence while detectives continued their search for the driver.

Residents in the area reported ongoing concerns about speeding along Woodman Avenue, saying reckless driving is common. Korshunov’s family described him as a Holocaust survivor who endured immense hardship before his life was tragically cut short. The investigation into the deadly hit-and-run remains ongoing.
